INFLUENCE OF THERAPEUTIC ENTITIES ON MEMBRANE DYNAMICS
The interaction of therapeutic agents with the lipid bilayer might change membrane biophysical properties and affect both membrane dynamics and drug therapeutic efficacy. In the Molecular & Cellular Biophysics team we aim to understand the mechanism by which therapeutic agents interact with biological membranes and reach their (intra)cellular targets. We use multiple biophysical methodologies to characterize:

i) the physico-chemical properties of the therapeutic entities;
ii) their mechanism of interaction with the bilayer;
iii) their effects on the overall membrane structure and properties
The elucidation of the molecular interactions between therapeutic agents and cell membranes, their uptake and intracellular processing is fundamental to support the tailor design of targeted therapeutic entities with improved efficiency and safe for clinical usage.
